Huntington Beach California

Huntington Beach is a seaside city in Orange County in Southern California. Huntington Beach was incorporated in 1909. It is the 16th largest city in California.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 31.9 square miles (82.6 km2).

Huntington Beach has a borderline semi-arid/Mediterranean climate . The climate is generally sunny, dry and cool, although evenings can be excessively damp. In the summer, temperatures rarely exceed 85 °F (29 °C). In the winter, temperatures rarely fall below 40 °F (4 °C), even on clear nights. The area is annually affected by a marine layer caused by the cool air of the Pacific Ocean meeting the warm air over the land. This results in overcast and foggy conditions in May and June.

Huntington Beach sits above a large natural fault structure containing oil. Although the oil is mostly depleted, extraction continues at a slow rate, and still provides significant local income. There are only two off-shore extraction facilities left, however, and the day is not far off when oil production in the city will cease and tourism will replace it as the primary revenue source for resident industry.

The City of Huntington Beach has seventy-six (76) parks with over 1062 acres of parkland currently, with plans to renovate Worthy Park, as well construct a new senior center. Parks within the system include mini parks, neighborhood parks, community parks, and regional parks containing a variety of recreational opportunities including sports fields, tennis courts, and picnic areas, as well as access to the trails and open space areas.

The City of Huntington Beach is honored to be called home to a wide verity of special events each year ranging from international sporting events to community-based celebrations. Collectively, the events in Huntington Beach attract more than 1.25 million visitors annually.
