Bakersfield California

Bakersfield is a city in Southern California, United States near the southern end of the San Joaquin Valley in Kern County. According to the Bakersfield municipal web site, Bakersfield is the 13th largest city in California. The discovery of gold on the Kern River in 1851 attracted the first wave of pioneers. The City of Bakersfield was formally incorporated in 1898.
Bakersfield has a very diverse economy. Kern County is the most productive oil producing county, and the fourth most productive agricultural county (by value) in the United States.Other industries include natural gas and other energy extraction, aerospace, mining, petroleum refining, manufacturing.
